Subject: [AskAVet] Does anyone in here run a rescue?
If so...I need to find a special home for Mama Tricky (registered name "The Trick's On You")...she's Doc's old mare that produced both of our good runners...she's 21 now and is doing pretty good for her age...only problem is her right knee (injured when she raced early in life)...I don't have the heart to 'put her down'..both for her and for me and the girls..my girls grew up 'on her back'...she was always great at leadline...her main problem is where she's at...affordable...but is in with geldings that bully her (hence the problem with the knee)...she avoids them best she can...is anyone in here needing a lawn ornament?...with less bullying her knee will be ok...and she's an easy keeper...i had her teeth done 2 weeks ago...I'm sure without being chased around she will even let small kids back up on her (she really loved that)...
I guess what I'm trying to say is I'd like to find a spot she can be somewhat useful for her age...breeding is out of the question as she's got a fatal gene...all attempts at breeding to certain stallions either didn't take or she aborted early...only 5 foals carried to term with no hormone treatments...so..trying again at her age would be a waste of time/money for her as well as may hurt her...
I'm looking at possible neck surgery in the near future and I want her in a good home before then...
if there's someone out there who wants to let her live out her days...give a shout...
