Re: [AskAVet] Severe Shedding

Could he have lice? Easy to get some python dust and rub it in and no more lice or hair loss.

Oh thank God!! Thank you so much Christy We were all freaking out. My friend loves the horse so much and we were afraid maybe he was dying. This is a huge relief...huge. Thanks again.

I've seen that happen numerous times with my neighbors horses. The hair grows back in just fine!

Hi Group!

I was given an 18 year old QH about 5-6 months ago. I have all TB's and didn't need another horse so I in turn gave him to one of my friends about a month ago. After about 2 weeks I noticed the horse started shedding really bad. My TB's don't get thick winter coats but the QH did so I just assumed he was shedding his winter coat. This has been getting worse. My friend went out and groomed the horse today and now he's nearly BALD!...literally bald....big patches of no hair like one of those hairless dogs. It's scary. He has hair on his legs, head and neck but his body has huge bald patches. I've never seen anything like it in my life. Any ideas?
