some of those symptoms also sound like botulism, which 3 of my friend's horses recently had ..it was horrible...definitely need a vet to check it out asap...hope they have a good prognosis for you !!

Wow, have you talked to the vet?

How old? Breed? I ask that because ponies usually live a lot longer than horses. It sounds like a stroke or neurological.

Without a vet check, I don't think anyone can help you here.

IF the horse is young I would look for head trauma or poisoning of some type. All of that would take the vet, blood work or x ray or careful exam.

If it is stroke and the horse can't control it's tongue; put them to sleep. Be humane. Horses really freak out if they can't control their bodies. Movement is life to them. If they can't move it is cruel to try to keep them going. Unless full movement can be restored. Quality of life needs to be considered.
