Re: [AskAVet] Re: runny eye

Hi Joyce,

Yeah it seems like a lot, pretty sure it is 3 mls.  Either that or 3 mls total for both eyes, as I clearly recall the 15 ml being correct and putting either 3 mls total between both eyes or 3 mls in each.  One or the other.  I just fill my syringe (by that I mean the plastic bit of the thing, no needles ofcourse!!!) with 15ml.  I just hold it near their eye, being real careful not to poke the eye.  Lots of it just falls down ofcourse doing it this way, maybe that's why it seems so much.  I gently press the plunger, so it does not squirt hard, so it almost drips into the eye.  My horses are all used to it so do not flinch, but just be careful.  It lubricates the eye and I have always found within max two days, the stuff has cleared up totally.  Ofcourse if it hadn't I would get the vet, but it always worked.  We had a tonne of dust at the old property.

I  used this remedy about 7 years ago (hence my faded memory for the recipe, but I know for a fact it was 15 ml cod liver oil total and either 3 ml total in eyes or else 3 ml each eye, maybe it is 3 ml total for the both eyes) and all the horses eyes never got any conjunctivitis ever again, despite even worse dust conditions.  I have never used an eye cream yet.  It must form a protective lubricating barrier on the eye.

It was just amazing.  All the horses had no side effects.  Kim xoxox
