Well, your trainer doesn't know much about the intestinal workings of dogs. They have very strong stomach acid and can digest bones, hooves are a piece of cake. In my many years, I've NEVER seen a dog get sick or impacted from eating hoof trimmings. My farrier brings his dog with him and tosses him trimmings...and his last dog lived to be 17!

I've seen them eat the poop...yuck...but my trainer told me they can't digest the hoof clippings and can later develop intestinal problems so be careful.? Her dogs like to chew them too. :)
