About 6 weeks ago my gelding had his teeth done by a vet while staying at my daughters barn.
Within a few hours, there was a soft puffy spot a few inches under his eye and in front of the cheek bone (?)
He also had a bloody nasal discharge that lasted just a day or two.
His eye watered for a couple of weeks.
The tearing stopped and then a large hard area showed up where the soft puffy spot had been.
I had my vet look at him. He sedated him and examined his mouth thinking that maybe there was a crack or decayed tooth. He did not find anything, except a wave in the tooth line and the inside edge was filed way too much.
We discussed a sinus problem and he did not feel there was one. After he left I kicked myself for not insisting on checking for a blockage using the dye drops.
What would you do? Would you ask him to return and do the tear duct blockage test? Is there a way I can do that myself?
What would Warren have advised?
