Whatever caused this, it sounds pretty serious. If the vet is unavailable, find out if there is someone on call at that practice or get another vet. If the limb was cold, there may be very serious compromise of the circulation and any time spent waiting could mean loss of the limb and probably the filly's life.

Get on the phone now and find a vet.

Or she could have been kicked, damaging the radial nerve. Does she drag her leg?

I have been doing equine massage on a local farm and the owner asked me to look at a young filly she found down in the field. and see if I could do something.. well after looking at the filly and the way her shoulder is hanging and the ankle is turned back and the filly swings the leg when trying to walk. Seems to me that the shoulder is out.. but what could be done for it if it is.. I did do soft and light massage to get the blood flowing to the lower leg because it was cold and seemed to be constricting.. the vet is out of town.. till monday.. and I dont think she could be hauled safely.. and ideals?
