Does anyone have a natural recipe for a product to take tangles out of a horse's mane and tail please?
Vet safe and without animal by-products please.
I am looking to use something similar to Absorbine Show Sheen, you know, to just get the tangles out and give a shine. Or is it just best to use something like Show Sheen? The reason I am asking is that I end up spending a fortune on Show Sheen and I am looking at something cheaper to do the same job.
My horses do not go to shows, but I like their manes and tails to look shiny and tangle free, and don't mind a bit of a spray of the stuff on their coat to make that look nice, too.
Is it ok to use human hair detanglers on horses? I saw some cheap ones in the $2 shops, etc.
Thanks,
Kim

Subject: [AskAVet] nutrena safe choice ingredient tags
Hi, all,
I just compared the ingredient tags on a new vs older bag, they changed their ingredients, and the first thing that struck me was the fact that "animal fat" is the last ingredient listed. I really didn't think equine, being plant eaters, were supposed to be eating animal anything?? Also, the older bag listed alfalfa meal as the first ingredient, now it's not even on there anywhere and "plant protein products" is listed as the first ingredient.
I have done a lot of comparisons of dog food, do they list ingredients on horse feed the same way? Greatest amount in the feed first to last?? Thanks!
