them (as I'm sure we all do). How gracious they are to let us tack them
up and ride them when they clearly don't have to. (They are bigger and
stronger than we are, after all.) How sweet to know that they enjoy our
companionship and are willing to learn and cooperate and carry us on
their backs or pull us along in something on wheels or carry our bundles
for us.
I have only been around horses for less than a decade. At first I was a
bit apprehensive because of their size and strength. Of course, I am
still cautions. A startled or frightened horse or a horse in pain could
well hurt a person and I am careful to be aware of where I am in
relation to the horses and to be sure that they know where I am as well;
but, I have become very comfortable among these marvelous creatures. I
so enjoy them and their various personalities.
My family is having the absolute worst time re-homing our Charlie horse
to a nice pasture home, even though our daughter can't ride him any
more. We love him so for his sweet personality and his gentle nature.
We will have to find him a new home soon and eventually there will be
another horse for our daughter to ride; but we will all miss him so much.
Yes, I love my horse!!
